We understand how confusing the Bail Bonds Process can be. In an effort to help alleviate this confusion you can find the most commonly asked questions regarding the process below!

The cost varies depending on the specific bond. By state law all Louisiana Bail Bondsman must charge no more, or less than 12% of the total bond + applicable jail fees & application fees.

For Example: John Doe has a bond of $10,000 at the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail
12% of $10,000 is $1200. The East Baton Rouge Parish Jail charges a a minimum of $30 and maximum of $60 in jail fees.

So at minimum John Does bond premium will be $1230.

We understand that is a steep price which is why we are proud to offer payment plans with as low as half of that down for approved applicants!

Bail is a financial arrangement that a bail bonding agency will make on behalf of the criminal defendant. A bail bondsmen, acting for the defendant, will arrange with the court to have a suspect released from jail pending the trial in exchange for money or collateral, which may be cash, assets, or a bond.

There are three options for release of a defendant:

A. Surety Bond (Bail Bond) You can use a bondsman to purchase a bond. You will then pay a fee of 12% of the total bond + applicable jail fees.

B.You can post cash for the full amount of the bond with the court or jail;

C. Release On Own Recognizance (O.R.) A watch commander or a judge can decide to let the defendant go on their ‘Own Recognizance’ (O.R.)

The paperwork takes approximately 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the complexity of the transaction. The release time can be one hour or less for local police stations and 6-12 hours in a county jail. Please remember that these times are not guaranteed, but general time frames.

Bail premium is non-refundable. The premium is fully earned once the defendant is released from custody. Furthermore, while out on a bail bond, if the defendant gets arrested for another charge, the premium is not refunded.
